In 2007 and 2008, Foster Friends of North Carolina (FFNC) and Grateful Hearts sponsored the annual Back to School Campaign for children experiencing foster care. Hundreds of children were invited to celebrate the new school year, play games, and pick up their very own backpack filled with all the necessary school supplies to start this year off right. This year's event took place at Bounce U.
Grateful Hearts is a collaboration between a group of friends who have varied life experiences but common interests and shared core values. They are on a mission, and it's a good one. "Our goal is to adopt worthwhile community causes – combining our time, talents, & blessings to make a difference," says group member, Claudia Reich. "We decided after joining forces to celebrate a birthday for a husband of a Grateful Hearts' member, that we had a lot of fun together and that we wanted to keep having fun while making a difference. So we made it official and voted unanimously to make the Back to School Campaign for Foster Friends our first project."
